On the Web - Charles Stewart Mott Foundation

Mission:
To support efforts that promote a just, equitable, and sustainable society.

Background:
Founded by automotive pioneer Charles Stewart Mott in 1926, the Mott Foundation affirms its founder's vision of a world in which each individual's quality of life is connected to the well-being of the community, both locally and globally. While most grants are awarded to organizations in the United States, the foundation has offices in London, Ireland, and South Africa and also serves communities in central/eastern Europe and Russia. Mott's grantmaking is focused on civil society, the environment, its hometown of Flint, Michigan, and poverty. The foundation also funds exploratory and special projects that address significant national and international problems.

Outstanding Web Features:
The foundation's newly redesigned site features a Grantee Toolbox that provides a general overview of the grants monitoring process for grantees and includes step-by-step instructions for completing the foundation's grant processing and administrative forms. Visitors to the site can also search a database of grants going back to 1977, subscribe to the foundation's newsletters, access Mott publications, and find links to other philanthropic resources.
