University of Kansas Law School Receives $1 Million From Alumni

The University of Kansas has announced a gift of $1 million from alumni Lydia Beebe and Chuck Doyle to fund scholarships and classroom renovations at its School of Law.

Awarded as part of KU's capital campaign, Far Above: The Campaign for Kansas, the gift to the KU Endowment includes $455,000 to establish the Beebe/Doyle Family Scholarship, an additional $500,000 to enhance the fund, and $45,000 for classroom renovations. Beebe serves on the law school's advisory committee for the capital campaign.

Beebe and Doyle each earned both a bachelor's degree and a law degree at KU. In 2005, the couple and two of Beebe's siblings established the Louise Ahlstedt Beebe and Jack E. Beebe Law Library Fund in memory of Beebe's parents.

"We wanted to do something that not only would contribute to Far Above but that also would help launch the campaign for the law school," said Beebe. "This campaign, and the private support it will generate, is important for the law school, especially as you see state funding getting harder and harder to come by."
