The Derby-based Valley Community Foundation has announced that its president and CEO Jamie Cohen is retiring at the end of the year. The San Diego Foundation has announced that it has developed free downloadable applications for iPhones, iPads, and Androids. The apps enable users to access the foundation's latest charitable giving news and information, including developments in the areas of civic engagement, community issues, and solutions. The San Francisco Foundation has announced twelve Koshland Community Fellows for the Excelsior District. The 2012 Daniel Koshland Civic Unity Awards are designed to foster leadership in the community, promote mutual respect and collaboration among diverse communities to resolve neighborhood problems, and celebrate unsung community heroes in the city. The Koshland Community Fellows, along with their neighborhood colleagues, will distribute an average of $75,000 per year through 2017. With funding from the Indiana Arts Commission, the Community Foundation of Randolph County in Winchester has awarded grants totaling more than $142,000 in Region 5, the Star Press reports. Representing the second year of a two-year grant cycle, a total of $77,782 was awarded through the foundation's Arts Organizational Support II program. The Kalamazoo Community Foundation has named Kalamazoo attorney C. Reid Hudgins III as the 2012 recipient of its Philanthropic Leadership Award. The award is given each year in recognition of recipient local individual's commitment to the greater Kalamazoo community and his or her outstanding leadership in advancing philanthropy in the region. Hudgins served on the board of trustees of the Irving S. Gilmore International Keyboard Festival, is vice president and a trustee of the Bishop Whittemore Foundation, and is a past chairman of the board of the Heritage Community of Kalamazoo and a past secretary of the Gull Lake Country Club. The Seattle Foundation has announced the creation of the Kaylene Keller Memorial Scholarship Fund, which will provide support for students who aspire to attend the DigiPen Institute of Technology and become video game designers. The Greater Milwaukee Foundation has announced second-quarter grants totaling $180,500 from its Mary L. Nohl Fund in support of visual arts projects in the region. The awards include $12,000 to Express Yourself Milwaukee to help create and install temporary outdoor art galleries around the city in vacant lots near Sherman Boulevard and near Mary McLeod Bethune Academy in Washington Park. The Oshkosh Area Community Foundation has announced nearly $271,000 in grants to organizations working to combat poverty in Winnebago, Green Lake, and Waushara counties. Funded by the U.S. Venture Basic Needs Partnership and distributed by the U.S. Venture Fund for Basic Needs of the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation, grants were awarded to nine groups, including the Mercy Health Foundation, University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Head Start, the Green Lake County Department of Health and Human Services, and CAP Services.
