Home Depot Foundation Announces 'Celebration of Service' Campaign
The Atlanta-based Home Depot Foundation, in partnership with The Mission Continues in St. Louis and the rock band 3 Doors Down, has announced the launch of a two-month, $9 million campaign to improve the lives of the nation's veterans. Scheduled to begin on September 11 and run through Veterans Day, November 11, the Celebration of Service campaign will include two hundred service projects designed to improve homes, facilities, and community centers where veterans live and receive services. Every Monday morning during the campaign, the foundation will announce grants totaling $1 million to nearly thirty nonprofit organizations via Twitter, Facebook, and its Web site. The new campaign follows on the heels of the foundation's three-year, $30 million pledge in April to address veterans' critical housing needs. "The Home Depot Foundation is committed to ensuring that every veteran has a safe place to call home," said the foundation's president Kelly Caffarelli. "[A]nd we intend to improve the lives and living conditions of thousands of veterans across the country during our Celebration of Service campaign."
