People in the News (8/15/10): Appointments and Promotions

The Houston Endowment has announced that DEBBIE McNULTY will assume additional grant oversight responsibilities. McNulty, currently a grant officer in the arts and culture program, will remain responsible for a portion of the endowment's arts and culture grantmaking and will also oversee grantmaking in the area of economic and community development.

The Minneapolis-based McKnight Foundation has announced the appointment of SHANNON EISENTRAGER as communications assistant. Most recently a senior environmental specialist with the Washington County public health and environment department, Eisentrager also has served as a program assistant in the foundation's environment grantmaking program.

The Cleveland-based Fund for Our Economic Future has announced the appointments of BETHIA BURKE as manager of emerging initiatives and COLETTE TAYLOR as support coordinator. In addition, the fund has promoted staff members CHRIS THOMPSON and ASHLEY BASILE to the newly created positions of director of funder and regional engagement and finance and operations associate, respectively. Burke joins the fund from TASC, Inc. (formerly Northrop Grumman, TASC), where she was manager of cost and risk analysis and PIMCID program manager. Taylor previously served as program manager for the Entrepreneur's Edge. Thompson has served as the fund's director of marketing, communications, and civic outreach since February 2007 and will continue to oversee its communications and marketing efforts. Basile joined the fund in 2009 as a fellow and has also served as a research assistant at the Ohio Small Business Development Center.

In other news, office supply retailer Staples, Inc. has announced the appointment of MIKE MILES as president of the Staples Foundation for Learning, the company's charitable arm. Currently Staples' president and chief operating officer, Miles will succeed Ron Sargent, the company's chairman and CEO, as head of the foundation.
