The Ford Foundation has announced the appointment of RICARDO CASTRO as vice president, general counsel, and foundation officer. Castro, currently general counsel for the Open Society Foundations, earlier worked an associate at the law firm of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton and as a legal services lawyer working on behalf of people living with HIV and AIDS. He succeeds NANCY FELLER, who retired in 2012 after thirty-three years at the foundation.

The Houston Endowment has announced the appointment of LINNET DEILY as board chair. Deily's career includes service as deputy U.S. trade representative and U.S. ambassador to the World Trade Organization, vice chairman of the Charles Schwab Corporation, and chair and CEO of First Interstate Bank of Texas. She currently serves on the boards of several nonprofits and companies, including Chevron Corp., Honeywell International, the Houston Zoo, St. Luke's Episcopal Health System, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation has announced the election of PAUL KLINGENSTEIN to its board. Klingenstein, founder and managing partner of venture capital firm Aberdare Ventures, previously served as an advisor to the Rockefeller Foundation and private-sector healthcare initiatives in India, China, and Malaysia. Before that, he worked as a field biologist in Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda. He currently serves as board chair of the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative and has served on the boards of several other nonprofits and educational institutions, including the African Wildlife Foundation, Juma Ventures, the Marin Country Day School, and the Taft School.

The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace has announced the addition of JON M. HUNTSMAN JR., ADEBAYO OGUNLESI, KENNETH E. OLIVIER, and L. RAFAEL REIF to its board. Huntsman, chair of the Huntsman Cancer Institute, earlier served as U.S. ambassador to China and Singapore, governor of Utah, and deputy U.S. trade representative under President George W. Bush; he also contended, unsuccessfully, for the Republican Party presidential nomination in 2012. Ogunlesi, chair and managing partner of private equity firm Global Infrastructure Partners, earlier held executive positions at Credit Suisse. Olivier, chair and chief executive officer of Dodge & Cox Funds, earlier served as president of the Security Analysts of San Francisco. Reif is president of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he has long served as a faculty member as well as director of its microsystems technology laboratories and department head in electrical engineering and computer science.

The National Philanthropic Trust has announced the appointment of WAYNE R. WALKER as board chair. Walker, principal at corporate management advisory firm Walker Nell Partners, has served on the boards of several organizations, including the Boys and Girls Club of Philadelphia, People for People, and Habitat for Humanity International.

The Florida Philanthropic Network has announced the appointments of KIM BENTLEY, MATT HAGGMAN, and PATRICIA MADDOX to three-year terms on the board and the re-election of SUSAN TOWLER as a board member. Bentley is assistant vice president of corporate philanthropy at automotive company JM Family Enterprises, Inc. HAGGMAN is Miami program director at the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Maddox is president and CEO of the Winter Park Health Foundation. Towler is vice president of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida Foundation and executive director of community affairs for Florida Blue.

In other news, the New York City chapter of Habitat for Humanity has announced the appointment of NEIL HETHERINGTON as CEO. Hetherington, CEO of the organization's Toronto chapter for twelve years, earlier worked in project management at Tridel Construction, Canada's largest condominium developer. He recently completed his MBA at the University of Western Ontario's Ivey Business School.
