New York Community Trust Announces $4.5 Million in Grants

New York Community Trust Announces $4.5 Million in Grants

The New York Community Trust has announced $4.5 million in grants, including several to help communities affected by Superstorm Sandy.

The forty-five grants, ranging from $35,000 to $800,000, also address dating violence, the shortage of affordable housing in the region, and a healthcare system in flux. Recipients include the Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City, which was awarded $250,000 for a public-private housing and neighborhood recovery fund; the New York Committee for Occupational Safety and Health, which will receive $60,000 to protect Sandy workers from hazardous conditions; and Picture the Homeless, which was awarded $40,000 in support of research and advocacy efforts to turn foreclosed and other vacant properties into low-income housing.

Other grant recipients include Cancer Care ($800,000), God's Love We Deliver ($100,000), the Blue Green Alliance Foundation ($75,000), and New Partners for Community Revitalization ($50,000).
