Iowa West Foundation Announces $4 Million in Fourth-Quarter Grants

The Iowa West Foundation in Council Bluffs has announced fourth-quarter grants totaling $4 million to local nonprofit and government agencies.

Grants announced by the foundation included an award of $1.25 million for a joint initiative with the City of Council Bluffs and Council Bluffs Chamber of Commerce to establish a fund that will be used to spur economic development and revitalization along the city's main corridor; $704,000 to the Pottawattamie County Community Foundation for efforts to promote local philanthropy and address emerging needs; $200,000 to the Council Bluffs Community Health Center to provide general operating support for its "All Care Health Center"; and $40,000 to the Council Bluffs Public Library to expand its virtual history services.

Grant recipients outside Council Bluffs and Pottawattamie County include the Omaha Botanical Center, which received $750,000 for the construction of a four-season conservatory; the City of Kimballton, which was awarded $38,000 for park and trail improvements; and the Omaha Symphony Association, which received $51,025 in support of its "Adventures in Music" for southwest Iowa students.
