Jewish Hospital and St. Mary's Foundation Invests $18 Million in Louisville Facilities

Jewish Hospital and St. Mary's Foundation Invests $18 Million in Louisville Facilities

The Jewish Hospital and St. Mary's Foundation has announced grants totaling more than $18 million for facility enhancements and advanced clinical research efforts at KentuckyOne Health, a nonprofit hospital system created earlier this year by the merger of Jewish Hospital & St. Mary's HealthCare and the Saint Joseph Health System.

The grants include a $5 million investment to create a hybrid operating room and resuscitation center at Jewish Hospital. The first resuscitation center in the state will allow for cutting-edge treatments such as the use of hypothermia therapy for patients in cardiac arrest, while the hybrid operating room will enable innovative new procedures such as transcatheter aortic valve replacement. Other projects to be funded include the creation of a shared space at the Frazier Rehab Institute for established clinical research programs conducted in partnership with the University of Louisville, upgrades of technology and equipment in the intensive care and critical care units at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital and Jewish Hospital Shelbyville, and purchases of new equipment for the Community Fitness & Wellness Center.

"The generous support provided by donors to the Jewish Hospital and St. Mary's Foundation is critical to our work to improve the health of our region," said Valinda Rutledge, Louisville market leader at KentuckyOne Health and president of Jewish Hospital. "The $18 million in investments will fund technology, equipment, construction, and more that will directly benefit the 1.2 million patients KentuckyOne Health serves each year."
