Albertson Foundation Awards $2 Million to Idaho Nonprofits

The J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Foundation has announced grants totaling $2 million to more than thirty Idaho nonprofit organizations.

Grant recipients include the Idaho Humane Society, which was awarded $350,000 in memory of Barbara "Bobbie" Newman, the only child of Joe and Kathryn Albertson; St. Luke's Health Foundation in Boise; the Idaho Commission for Libraries Read to Me Program; the Swiftsure Ranch Equestrian Center in Bellevue; Discover Technology in Hayden; and the Boys and Girls Club of Nampa.

In addition, the foundation awarded $100,000 each to the Boise Rescue Mission's City Light Home for Women and Children, which provides emergency services to community members in need; the Women and Children's Alliance of Boise, which assists domestic abuse and sexual assault victims; and the Idaho Foodbank, the state's largest hunger relief organization and the largest distributor of free emergency food.

"Every year, our family foundation has the honor of providing grants for some of the outstanding nonprofits in our state," said Albertson Foundation executive director Jamie MacMillan. "We think the work of these incredible organizations makes Idaho a better place for all of us and we are proud to support them."
