Accenture, Accenture Foundations Award KIPP Additional $3.3 Million

Accenture, Accenture Foundations Award KIPP Additional $3.3 Million

Accenture and the Accenture Foundations have announced a three-year, $3.3 million grant to KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program), a national network of charter schools, to help youth in underserved communities transition from secondary education to higher education and employment.

The grant will be used to expand the Future Focus program, which was piloted jointly by KIPP DC and Accenture during the 2011-12 school year, to nearly seven thousand KIPP students in Washington, D.C., Austin, Denver, Houston, and the Bay Area, with pro bono assistance from Accenture employees to help KIPP develop and customize skills-training programs for each location.

The grant also will support KIPP Through College programs at various sites and partnerships with colleges and universities. Awarded as part of Accenture's Skills to Succeed initiative, which aims to equip two hundred and fifty thousand people around the world by 2015 with the skills to get a job or build a business, the grant brings the company's direct support of KIPP since 2009 to $3.7 million.

"Supporting KIPP helps bring to life Accenture's commitment to building skills," said Jill Huntley, senior director of corporate citizenship at Accenture. "KIPP is proving it's possible to make a significant and lasting impact on the economic well-being of individuals and their communities by connecting students with the programs and skills that will enable them to be successful."

“Accenture Awards KIPP — Knowledge Is Power Program — an Additional US $3.3 Million to Equip Young People With Career Readiness Skills.” Accenture Press Release 12/04/12.
