GE Foundation Awards More Than $1 Million to Houston Health Centers

The GE Foundation has announced a second round of grants totaling more than $1 million to Partners for Community Health and five community health centers in Houston.

Awarded through GE's Developing Health program, the funds will be used to increase access to primary care in underserved communities through direct support for health centers and capacity-building initiatives. Two-year grants of $175,000 each were awarded to El Centro de Corazon's Eastwood clinic, Good Neighbor Healthcare Center's Heights Boulevard location, Spring Branch Community Health Center's Hillendahl location, and Legacy Community Health Services' Southwest and Westheimer locations.

Partners for Community Health, a health center-controlled network, will receive $250,000 over two years to implement an Immunization Acceleration Partnership program in Houston. Since 2010, the GE Foundation has invested more than $2 million in the PCH network.

"From Project Smiles with the Good Neighbor [Healthcare] Center, to diabetes and weight management programs at Spring Branch Health Center, and the Family Life Program at Legacy — these health centers are hard at work reaching those who need it most with quality care."
