Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Receives $20 Million From Los Angeles Couple
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles has announced a $20 million gift from PIMCO founder Bill Gross and his wife, Sue, to support construction of a new facility.
Awarded through the Gross Family Foundation, the gift will be used to help construct the Advanced Health Sciences Pavilion, an eleven-story, 820,000-square-foot facility that will serve an estimated four hundred patients daily when it opens in 2013. Among other things, the pavilion will house the Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute and various departments working to accelerate biomedical discoveries, as well as a 50,000-square-foot outpatient surgical and interventional hub on the fifth floor. In recognition of the gift, Cedars-Sinai will name the hub the Sue and Bill Gross Surgery and Procedure Center.
"This visionary gift from Sue and Bill Gross demonstrates forward-thinking philanthropy," said Arthur J. Ochoa, senior vice president for community relations and development at Cedars-Sinai. "By supporting the new pavilion, the Gross family is helping to usher in a truly new era of patient care."
