Children's Hospital of Orange County Receives $5 Million for Pediatric Emergency Department
Children's Hospital of Orange County has announced a gift of $5 million from Julia and George Argyros to build a pediatric emergency department.
Slated to open in March 2013, the Julia and George Argyros Emergency Department will be the first such facility in Orange County and will feature thirty-one treatment rooms, including fourteen rapid medical exam rooms and three triage suites. The facility will be part of a 425,000-square tower for which CHOC has raised more than $120 million of its $125 million goal. The couple helped launch the public phase of the hospital's campaign with a $1 million naming gift in 2009 for the surgery center reception area in the new tower.
"We are extremely grateful for the long-standing support of the Argyros family, and are thrilled by this most recent contribution which will help us achieve our vision and transform pediatric care," said CHOC president and CEO Kim Cripe. "Julia and George's $5 million donation is an amazing gift to the children and families in Orange County who will now have access to a world-class pediatric emergency department."
