Columbia Business School Receives Anonymous $25 Million Gift

Columbia Business School in New York City has announced a $25 million gift from an anonymous donor to help support construction of its new home in a neighborhood north of the university's main campus.

The gift includes $23.25 million for construction of the school's new Manhattanville campus, which will feature multi-functional spaces designed to foster a sense of community among students and faculty and reflect the fast-paced, highly social character of business in the twenty-first century. The remaining $1.75 million will support the business school's Social Enterprise Program, which teaches students how to apply business skills to social enterprise endeavors and align their personal and professional values in careers that result in social benefits to the broader community.

The announcement of the gift follows on the heels of a $25 million gift to the business school from alumnus Leon Cooperman, chairman and CEO of hedge fund Omega Advisors and a member of the business school's board of overseers, in April, and a $100 million commitment from GSB board co-chair Henry R. Kravis in October 2010.
