Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Announces $419 Million in Grants
The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria has announced two-year grants totaling $419.2 million to thirty-seven countries for "essential" prevention, treatment, and care programs.
The grants were awarded as part of the Transitional Funding Mechanism, which the Global Fund launched last November to ensure that critical programs were not disrupted while it worked to attract more funding. To that end, the grants will be used to bridge the financing of interventions until the next opportunity comes around for countries to apply for additional funding.
The Global Fund also announced that another eleven proposals requesting a total of $91.2 million were sent back for revision and will be subject to further review before they can be approved.
