Dayton Foundation Awards $15.8 Million in First Half of 2012
The Dayton Foundation has announced that it awarded more than $15.8 million in grants in the first six months of 2012, including $386,050 in discretionary grants to local nonprofits in the areas of arts and culture, education, health and human services, and other community-building endeavors.
The latest round of discretionary grants awarded by the foundation included $150,000 over two years to
Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley
to help fund construction of its new headquarters and enhance its capacity to serve people with disabilities; $75,000 over two years to the United States Air Force Museum Foundation to support construction of a new building to house the museum's collection of presidential aircraft, among other items; and $50,000 to Foodbank, Inc. for the purchase of a walk-in freezer.
In addition, the foundation awarded $25,000 to the Dayton Masonic Foundation to help it purchase a geothermal air conditioning system for the Masonic Center; $25,000 to Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio Region in support of renovations to the Kettering Philips Center; and $20,000 to the Neighborhood School Centers to fund the seventh year of the Dayton Foundation leadership initiative and enhance neighborhood school centers at five elementary schools.
