Meyer Memorial Trust Awards $2 Million in July Grants
The Meyer Memorial Trust in Portland, Oregon, has announced nineteen grants totaling more than $2 million to nonprofits across the state.
Grants awarded by the trust in July included $150,000, combined with a loan guarantee of $300,000, to the Freshwater Trust in support of the organization's "ecosystem services" program, which quantifies the temperature reduction value generated by riparian restoration as credits that can be traded or purchased by entities facing offset or mitigation requirements; $150,000 to the Friends of Tryon Creek; and $91,567 to NextStep Recycling.
The trust also awarded a number of grants to support health and human services, especially in rural areas of the state. They included $294,000 to the Community Health Center to establish a medical home for low-income patients with complex medical needs at its Medford clinic; $200,000 to Umatilla-Morrow County Head Start in Hermiston; and $150,000 to the Harney County Senior and Community Services Center. Other grants included $198,000 to the National College of Natural Medicine and $50,000 to the Newport Symphony Orchestra.
