Meyer Memorial Trust Awards $2.4 Million in Grants
The Meyer Memorial Trust in Portland, Oregon, has announced second-quarter grants totaling more than $2.4 million to organizations in Oregon and Clark County, Washington.
Forty-five grants totaling some $800,000 were made through the trust's grassroots grants program, which provides key support to projects important to small nonprofits or communities. As part of its investment in affordable housing, the trust also awarded $295,000 to six affiliates of Habitat for Humanity. In addition, a grant of more than $50,000 was awarded in support of the trust's Willamette River Initiative.
Other grants included $70,000 to the Whiteside Theatre Foundation to help restore the theater's historic building and attract arts and culture programs to downtown Corvallis; $125,000 to the Portland-based Classroom Law Project to help provide civic education to students and teachers; and $100,000 to Camp and Retreat Ministries to help upgrade buildings at Camp Magruder.
