Boston Foundation Launches Online Giving Platform
The Boston Foundation has announced the launch of a new online giving platform that provides comprehensive information about nonprofit organizations in the Bay State.
The Giving Common, as the site is called, features detailed profiles of more than three hundred organizations, including background data, program offerings, governance and management information, and impact indicators. Visitors to the site also can search organization profiles by geography or focus area.
The foundation, which hopes to increase the number of nonprofits that voluntarily submit information to the site, also announced that organizations able to complete a Giving Common profile by August 1 will be eligible to receive a challenge grant through a thirty-six-hour Giving Common Challenge scheduled for October 10. Among other things, the challenge aims to raise millions of dollars for local nonprofits while boosting the visibility of the state's nonprofit sector.
"Nonprofits play such an important role in the life of the commonwealth," said Boston Foundation director of nonprofit effectiveness Jennifer Aronson, "we hope this event will raise awareness and much-needed funding for these organizations, and that the Giving Common will give them a chance to tell their unique stories and demonstrate their impact to an audience that is interested in supporting their important work."
