Pershing Square Foundation Awards $10 Million to Human Rights Watch
The Pershing Square Foundation in New York City has announced a five-year, $10 million grant to Human Rights Watch in support of the advocacy organization's strategic plan and new initiatives in its Africa and Women's Rights divisions.
The grant, which makes the foundation one of the leading donors to HRW globally, will help the organization expand and deepen its regional presence in Africa and maximize its support for women's rights. HRW is working to expand its team of on-the-ground activists by nearly a third and to build bridges with local officials, policy makers, and the media in countries in which it works. To help accomplish those objectives, the New York City-based organization hopes to boost its annual budget from $50 million to $80 million through its Global Challenge Campaign.
