Florida Philanthropic Associations to Merge
The boards of the Donors Forum of South Florida, a regional association of funders, and the Florida Philanthropic Network, a statewide association of foundations and other grantmaking organizations, have reached an agreement to merge the two infrastructure groups.
The organization created by the merger of the two largest philanthropic associations in the Sunshine State will keep the Florida Philanthropic Network name and will be led by current FPN president and CEO David Biemesderfer. FPN will open offices in West Palm Beach and Miami by early June and will dedicate a staff person to meet the needs of members in the region.
"The merger of Donors Forum of South Florida and [the] Florida Philanthropic Network is in the best interest of Florida philanthropy," said Donors Forum board chair Miguel Milanes, regional vice president for Miami-Dade at Allegany Franciscan Ministries. "The merger will help ensure the most effective and efficient use of the state's charitable dollars, and will help Florida grantmakers…[achieve] greater impact and better outcomes for the state's communities and people."
