Connecticut
The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has announced a three-year, $450,000 grant to the Workforce Solutions Collaborative of Metro Hartford, a public-private partnership working to ensure that the region has an educated, economically self-sufficient workforce with the skills needed by area employers.
Florida
The Community Foundation in Jacksonville is seeking grant applications from organizations working to boost visual arts education and appreciation in St. Augustine, the Record reports. Grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded through the foundation's Dr. JoAnn Crisp Ellert Fund.
Indiana
The Indianapolis-based Central Indiana Community Foundation has announced that it is expanding its Twenty-First Century Scholars enrollment challenge to Marion and Hamilton counties. The challenge is an incentive-based initiative created to boost the number and percentage of low-income middle school students enrolled in the Twenty-First Century Scholars program.
Michigan
The Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation has announced grants of more than $100,000 to local organizations working in the areas of human services, arts and culture, and children and youth. Recipients include Manna Food Project's Backpack Program, Christ Child Society, Northwest Michigan Works!, and the Friendship Center.
Nebraska
The Omaha Community Foundation has named Ayanna Boykins as its new director of community investment, in which position her responsibilities will include running the Nonprofit Capacity Building initiative.
Washington
The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation has announced grants totaling more than $600,000 to local organizations working in the areas of arts and culture, basic needs, education, environment, and neighborhoods and communities. The total amount awarded was sixty percent higher than last year, in part due to funding made available by a regional family foundation for the GTCF's Vibrant Community Grantmaking Program.
