University of Chicago Receives $1.5 Million From Fuel Freedom Foundation
The University of Chicago has announced a $1.5 million gift from the Fuel Freedom Foundation in support of the Energy Policy Institute at Chicago (EPIC), a joint enterprise of the Booth School of Business and Harris School of Public Policy.
The gift will be used to establish the Future of Transportation Fuels Initiative within EPIC, fund Ph.D. students and a visiting professorship, and extend outreach programs to the public. Founded in 2011, EPIC works to provide data-driven research on energy, train business and policy leaders in a science-based approach to energy issues, and communicate its findings to decision makers, the media, and the public.
"EPIC is built on the conviction that meeting our future energy needs and enhancing energy security, while limiting adverse environmental and social impact, starts with the development of sound public policy," said EPIC co-director Robert Rosner. "This gift will greatly aid our effort toward that end."
