Home For Good Funders Collaborative to Award $75 Million to Combat Homelessness in Los Angeles

Home For Good Funders Collaborative to Award $75 Million to Combat Homelessness in Los Angeles

The Home For Good Funders Collaborative, an initiative of the United Way of Greater Los Angeles, has announced that it will provide more than $75 million in grants to nonprofit organizations working to end chronic homelessness in Los Angeles County.

Formed in October 2011 to support the Home For Good blueprint, a plan to end chronic and veteran homelessness in Los Angeles County by 2016, the eighteen-member collaborative will award its first round of grants in June. Applications will be accepted through April 20, and most of the information requested in the RFP must be filed online.

Funding for the collaborative includes a $1 million challenge gift from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. In total, private funders will contribute $5 million in funds to the effort during the first year, while public funders will distribute $37 million through the RFP process. An additional $33 million in public-sector resources will be provided in the second round of funding. Other private foundations contributing to the effort include the Aileen Getty, Annenberg, W.M. Keck, Carl and Roberta Deutsch, UniHealth, and Weingart foundations, the Corporation for Supportive Housing L.A., Kaiser Permanente, the California Endowment, and UWGLA.

For more information about the collaborative, including the full RFP (37 pages, PDF), visit the Home For Good Funders Collaborative Web site.
