Hawaii
The Hawaii Community Foundation has announced the second round of grant recipients from its Island Innovation Fund, which was created to serve as a catalyst for innovation within the state's nonprofit sector. A total of $480,591 was awarded to five organizations for projects that aim to increase energy awareness through real-time energy monitoring and mobile application tools, enable residents statewide to actively follow and monitor the legislative process, distribute a replicable exercise and fall prevention program to seniors, deploy a new access control mechanism to maintain public access to trails and pathways on the Big Island, and encourage schools to reduce their waste.
Illinois
The Morton Community Foundation has announced a $10,000 grant from the Erie Insurance Co. to establish a temporary pass-through fund for the new Morton Lacrosse Club, which will use it to purchase equipment and establish the youth-focused program. Initially targeting junior high and high school students, the club eventually plans to expand and include younger children.
Maryland
The Hagerstown-based Community Foundation of Washington County, in partnership with the Pauline Anderson Foundation, has announced unrestricted grants totaling nearly $115,000. Recipients include Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry, Girls on the Run, W House, and the Memorial Recreation Center.
Massachusetts
The Cape Cod Foundation has announced the deadline for grant applications to its Gay and Lesbian Equity Fund, which aims to raise awareness and support for issues affecting the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered (LGBT) community on Cape Cod and the islands. Applications must be received no later than 5:00 p.m., March 16.
Montana
The Park County Community Foundation has announced grants totaling $110,000 to local organizations, including the Livingston Food Pantry, Montana Horse Sanctuary, Shields Valley Schools, and the Yellowstone Gateway Museum of Park County. The grants were made possible by a gift from the Crazy Mountain Ranch/ALTRIA Group, Inc.
New Jersey
The Lawrenceville Township Community Foundation has received a $10,000 grant from the Lawrenceville School to help support other local organizations, the Lawrenceville Patch reports.
Ohio
In recognition of the city's bicentennial, the Columbus Foundation has announced its new Bicentennial Leadership Award. A $200,000 gift to the Ohio Association of Second Harvest Foodbanks will support the Ohio Benefit Bank, while a $100,000 grant to the Columbus Historical Society will help preserve and promote Columbus's history through a new partnership.
West Virginia
The Parsons-based Tucker Community Foundation is accepting applications for merit-based scholarships, WBOY reports. The foundation plans to award forty scholarships totaling more than $52,000 to students in Barbour, Grant, Mineral, Preston, Pocahontas, Randolph, and Tucker counties in West Virginia, as well as in Garrett County, Maryland.
