AstraZeneca Health Foundation Awards $3.6 Million to Improve Cardiovascular Health

The AstraZeneca Health Foundation in Wilmington, Delaware, has announced grants totaling more than $3.6 million to twenty organizations working to improve cardiovascular health in local communities.

Launched in 2010, the foundation's Connections for Cardiovascular Health program awards grants of at least $150,000 to U.S.-based nonprofit organizations. Recipients in this funding round include the Allegiance Health Foundation in Jackson, Michigan; Cary Medical Center in Caribou, Maine; El Buen Samaritano Episcopal Mission in Austin, Texas; and the Health Wagon in Clintwood, Virginia.

"We must work to decrease the risk of and prevent cardiovascular disease in the United States, by providing resources to those in need," said James W. Blasetto, the foundation's chair. "These grant recipients are providing an innovative program to improve cardiovascular health in communities across the country."
