Indiana University Receives $33 Million From Lilly Endowment

Indiana University Receives $33 Million From Lilly Endowment

Indiana University has announced a $33 million grant from the Lilly Endowment to the university's Kelley School of Business.

The largest grant in the business school's ninety-two-year history will support new and renovated facilities that enable undergraduate students to interact with companies worldwide on actual projects and raise the profile of the school among the world's elite business schools. Combined with $27 million in private gifts, the $60 million expansion and renovation project also will create space to house the off-campus Indiana Business Research Center, which offers a wide range of economic and demographic information services to help companies, government organizations, and nonprofits make better decisions.

Construction for the 71,000-square-foot expansion is scheduled to begin this spring. In addition to adding more than twenty classrooms, the enhanced facilities will feature a stock trading room with state-of-the-art informational resources, a business communications lab, new student collaboration and commons rooms, and a 2,000-square-foot multipurpose room for large gatherings.

"This is truly a transformational gift for the Kelley School, one that will change the lives of our students and will also elevate the school's role in serving the state," said Kelley School dean Dan Smith. "The new facilities will allow the school to...execute an experiential learning approach to business education."
