Broadway Cares Receives $1.2 Million From Ebb Foundation
Broadway Cares/Equity Fight AIDS, a New York City-based nonprofit that works to assist people with AIDS and other critical illnesses, has received a $1.2 million grant from the Fred Ebb Foundation, Playbill reports.
The largest grant in the organization's tweenty-two-year history will be used to provide support for a wide range of social service programs through the Actors Fund and other HIV/AIDS and family service organizations around the country. The amount surpasses last year's record-breaking $1 million gift from the foundation, which was launched with royalties from the late award-winning lyricist Fred Ebb.
"[The grant comes] at a time when other funding sources are cutting back as more and more men, women, and children reach out for assistance," said BC/EFA executive director Tom Viola. "What an incredible gift Fred has given them. 'Long as we pull together, we can do anything, anything, anywhere,' Fred wrote in The Rink. Thank you, Fred! Your most generous gift will allow BC/EFA to act on those wise and kind words."
