Delaware

The Delaware Community Foundation has announced that it is accepting applications through its Web site for several scholarship programs, the Milford Beacon reports. As was the case last year, the foundation pledged to award more than three hundred scholarships to students across the state for the upcoming academic year.

Florida

The Indian River Community Foundation in Vero Beach has announced a $100,000 donation from a local couple in support of its unrestricted grants program, TCPalm.com reports. Since the couple, who wish to remain anonymous, helped launch it in 2008 the program has distributed some $160,000 to local nonprofits working to address the region's most pressing issues.

Idaho

The Idaho Community Foundation has announced grants totaling nearly $134,000 to ninety-five nonprofit organizations and government agencies working in the fields of arts and culture, education, emergency services, health, the environment, community development, and social services. The grants were awarded through the foundation's Greatest Need Endowment Fund for Southwestern Idaho.

New York

The Wayne County Community Endowment Advisory Committee and the Rochester Area Community Foundation have announced grants totaling $78,785 to thirty-nine nonprofit organizations working to assist residents in Wayne County, the Wayne Post reports. Grant recipients include Home Meal Service, which was awarded $5,000 to deliver meals and operate its nutrition site in Sodus; Catholic Charities of Wayne County, which will receive $3,000 to run a community clothing center in Wolcott; and Family Counseling Service of the Finger Lakes, which was awarded $1,750 for equipment upgrades at two offices.

Ohio

All six community foundations in Butler County have seen an uptick in donations in 2011, the Middletown Journal reports. The region's oldest and largest group, the Hamilton Community Foundation, has received more than $2.8 million in donations this year, an increase of 77 percent over 2010, while the Middletown Community Foundation saw an 11 percent increase in donations.

Pennsylvania

The First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania in Williamsport has announced grants totaling $264,725 to eleven nonprofit organizations working to assist flood victims, businesses, and organizations in Lycoming County. Awarded through the foundation's newly created Lycoming County Disaster Relief Fund, the grants include $16,394 to the Muncy Area Volunteer Fire Company to replace the aging and inadequate portable pumps used by the company; $10,000 to American Rescue Workers to assist flood victims in need of basic services, household furnishings, and rental assistance; and $3,000 to Veterans Memorial Park of Picture Rocks to repair its brick walkways, gardens, and landscaping.

West Virginia

The Parkersburg Area Community Foundation, the Regional Affiliate Foundations of Doddridge, Ritchie, Jackson, and Mason counties, and the Little Kanawha Area have awarded grants totaling nearly $187,000 to support a wide range of projects in the Mid-Ohio Valley region, the Parkersburg News and Sentinel reports. Grant recipients include the Parkersburg Art Center, which was awarded $10,000 in operating support and an additional $5,000 toward its capital campaign; the West Virginia University School of Dentistry, which received $6,700 to provide dental sealants to uninsured or underinsured children through the Smiles Across America program; and Ripley Middle School, which was awarded $2,700 for archery equipment.
