DePaul University Awarded $10 Million Grant From Anonymous Donor

DePaul University in Chicago has announced a $10 million pledge from the estate of an anonymous alumnus and his wife in support of scholarships and a professorship in its College of Commerce.

The largest single gift in the institution's 113-year history was made as part of a $250 million capital campaign, which, among other things, hopes to raise at least $100 million for student scholarships. To date, the university has raised more than $215 million toward the campaign, which will support its investments in academic excellence university wide, programs and campus facilities that serve and improve communities, and help strengthen DePaul's Vincentian Catholic values.

"This landmark gift is notable not just in its magnitude but in the profound impact it will have on the College of Commerce and the students who come through its doors seeking opportunity and excellence," said the university's president, the Rev. Dennis H. Holtschneider, C.M. "This gift is going to change the lives of countless students and help DePaul meet our commitment to recruiting the very best faculty to teach them. We could not be more grateful to this generous couple for what they are doing for the many generations that follow them."
