Community Action Project Receives $22 Million From George Kaiser Family Foundation

The Community Action Project of Tulsa County has received a $22 million grant from the George Kaiser Family Foundation in support of its early childhood education programs, Tulsa World and Tulsa Today report.

The grant will be used to match state funding for the pilot program operated by CAP and help create new classrooms at some of its early childhood centers, including four at the McClure Early Education Center and six more at the Disney Early Childhood Education Center. CAP currently serves more than two thousand low-income children in thirteen early childhood centers in Tulsa County.

Since 2004, the foundation has contributed $92 million to the project's early education initiatives. "We know that the earliest years of a child's life are critical to their future success," Ken Levit, the foundation's executive director, told Tulsa Today. "Investing in the first five years of a child's life is the best investment we can make as a society."
