New York Life Foundation Announces $750,000 for Childhood Bereavement Providers

New York Life Foundation Announces $750,000 for Childhood Bereavement Providers

The New York Life Foundation has announced grants totaling $750,000 to twenty-two bereavement providers nationwide working to assist children who have had at least one parent die.

Awarded through a partnership between NYLF and the National Alliance for Grieving Children (NAGC), grants ranging from $5,000 to $100,000 over two years will be used to expand grief support services to diverse and disadvantaged youth. Recipients include the Children's Grief Center of El Paso; Ele's Place in Ann Arbor, Michigan; the Detroit-based Henry Ford Health System Sand Castles Grief Support Program for Children and Families; Kate's Club in Atlanta, Georgia; Suncoast Kids Place in Lutz, Florida; the Family Hospice Heartlinks Grief Center in Belleville, Illinois; and the Philadelphia-based Center for Grieving Children, Teens and Families.

"The [foundation] partnered with the NAGC to expand the accessibility of bereavement services to grieving youth and their families across the country in areas that have been underserved," said NYLF president Chris Park. "The foundation has been focused on the issue of childhood bereavement since 2008, and we are pleased to strengthen one of our core focus areas on a national level and support communities that will benefit from the additional assistance."
