The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties has announced that it is accepting applications for its 2011-12 scholarship program via its Web site only. The deadline for students to apply is February 1, 2012.
The Greater New Orleans Foundation has announced eight grants from the ExxonMobil—Greater New Orleans Foundation Fund totaling more than $50,000 to organizations working in the communities of St. Bernard and Algiers. The recipients are the Arc of New Orleans, Junior Achievement, the NHP Foundation, Los Islenos Heritage and Cultural Society, the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, STAIR, St. Bernard Volunteers, and the St. Bernard Wetlands Foundation.
The Maine Community Foundation has announced that it has been certified by the Community Foundations National Standards Board, a national accreditation organization, as meeting the nation's highest philanthropic standards for operational quality, integrity, and accountability.
The Berrien Community Foundation in St. Joseph has announced grants totaling nearly $150,000 to local organizations working in the areas of community development, arts and culture, youth leadership and development, and education. Recipients include the Krasl Art Center, the Sarret Nature Center, Helping Our Youth Achieve, and the Southwest Michigan Community Action Agency.
The Charlotte Lesbian and Gay Fund, a collective giving and endowment fund of Foundation for the Carolinas, has announced that its 2012 grant cycle will open on January 17. On and after that date, organizations can apply for community connection grants of up to $5,000 in support of new programs, projects, and events that address the mission of CLGF; basic operating grants of up to $4,000; and ADAM Queer Youth Initiative Grants of up to $4,000.
The Norfolk-based Hampton Roads Community Foundation has named Deborah M. DiCroce as its new president and CEO.
The Greater Milwaukee Foundation has announced grants totaling $210,000 to a program that works to increase income and build assets of residents in Milwaukee and Waukesha counties. Grants of $110,000 to the Social Development Commission and $100,000 to La Casa de Esperanza will provide support for the agencies' Volunteer Income Tax Assistance programs and help low-income working families file their taxes and claim an Earned Income Tax Credit as well as other benefits.
