McKnight Foundation Awards $14.2 Million in Second-Quarter Grants
The Minneapolis-based McKnight Foundation has announced second-quarter grants totaling $14.2 million, including $1.4 million to small and midsize arts organizations.
Grants were awarded to eighteen arts organizations that help develop and deliver the work of Minnesota artists or that model innovation in connecting artists and the public. They include Arts Midwest, which received a three-year, $600,000 grant to support ArtsLab, a capacity-building program for small artist-driven organizations; Fergus Falls Center for the Arts, which was awarded a two-year, $65,000 grant for general operations and to organize the first Rural Arts and Culture summit; and the Native American Community Development Institute, which received a three-year, $75,000 grant to support All My Relations, a professional art gallery that celebrates the relationship between contemporary Native American artists and the influence of preceding generations.
"The kaleidoscope of creativity that is Minnesota's arts ecosystem is a reflection of the variety of organizations supporting artists in the Twin Cities and around the state," said McKnight Foundation board chair Robert J. Struyk. "It is also clearly evident in the myriad ways these and other arts organizations connect artists and communities."
