Illinois
The DuPage Community Foundation in Wheaton has announced twelve new "25 for 25" grants. To date, the foundation has awarded fifteen of the $1,000 grants to commemorate its twenty-fifth anniversary. Recipients of the latest grants include CASA of DuPage County, the Green Earth Institute, Teen Parent Connection, and We Grow Dreams. The foundation plans to continue the program through November.
Mississippi
The Jackson-based Foundation for the Mid South has announced that its president, Ivye L. Allen, was one of fourteen people recognized by the White House through its Champions of Change initiative. Highlighted as a leader in civic engagement and social innovation, Allen traveled to New Orleans to participate in a roundtable discussion on solutions and challenges for bettering our communities.
New Hampshire
The Concord-based New Hampshire Charitable Foundation has announced that its 2010 annual report (15 pages, PDF) is now available on its Web site.
New Jersey
The Summit Area Public Foundation has awarded $35,000 to the Summit Speech School, the Independent Press reports.
Ohio
The Columbus Foundation has announced the names of eleven college and graduate students who will participate in its 2011 Summer Fellowship Program. Funded by the foundation and donors, the program offers hands-on career-related work experiences through a paid summer position (or internship) at a central Ohio nonprofit organizations and a $5,000 stipend.
Oregon
The Oregon Community Foundation has announced that former board member Lyn Hennion recently was honored at the Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater for her community service. In addition to her years working with OCF, Hennion currently serves on the boards of the Oregon Cultural Trust, the Oregon 529 College Savings Network, Pacific Retirement Services, Buncom Historical Society, and the Applegate Valley Rural Fire Protection District #9.
Wisconsin
The Oshkosh Area Community Foundation has announced eleven grants totaling $248,000 that were funded by the U.S. Venture Basic Needs Partnership and distributed by the foundation's U.S. Venture Fund for Basic Needs. Recipients include Bread for Tomorrow, the Winnebago County Literacy Council, Fox Valley Technical College, and Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services.
