Marin Community Foundation Awards $2 Million to Bolster Healthcare Safety Net
The Marin Community Foundation in Novato, California, has announced grants totaling $2 million through its Sutter Health Access to Care Fund to help Marin County residents with minimal or no health insurance gain access to medical care.
The second round of grants awarded through the fund — a partnership between the foundation and the Sutter Health network of doctors and hospitals in Northern California — will support a range of services, including dental care, day care for older adults, breast cancer screenings, adolescent health services, obstetric care, immunizations and inoculations, and behavioral health services for people with multiple medical conditions. Grants from the fund will also underwrite insurance premiums that enable uninsured children to receive preventive and primary health care.
"This round of grants is addressing many areas of critical need," said Marin Foundation president and CEO Thomas Peters. "By supporting this range of care, we are helping people avoid falling through the healthcare safety net. In addition, the clinical care provided by many of these services helps improve the quality of health and life for all residents of Marin."
