Saint Luke's Foundation Awards $1.3 Million in Third-Quarter Grants

The Cleveland-based Saint Luke's Foundation has announced grants totaling $1.3 million to thirteen organizations for public health, education, and capacity-building projects.

The third-quarter grants include $250,000 to the Positive Education Program for a new autism center; $250,000 to the Cleveland Hearing and Speech Center's capital campaign; $150,000 to Northeast Ohio Neighborhood Health Services in support of its NEON Program; $100,000 to the Center for Families and Children for operating support; and $90,000 to Recovery Resources to support its merger with Spectrum of Supportive Resources, a collaboration that will serve mentally ill individuals.

In addition, the foundation awarded a $55,871 Make It Stick grant to the Universal Healthcare Action Network of Ohio to help build the organization's communications capacity.

"The economic downturn has impacted nonprofit organizations and people in a variety of ways," said Saint Luke's Foundation president and CEO Denise San Antonio Zeman. "Many of this quarter's grantees embody some thoughtful approaches to coping with economic difficulty, education for individuals in our community, and collaboration among service organizations."
