Hyundai Awards $6.8 Million to Fight Childhood Cancer

Hyundai Awards $6.8 Million to Fight Childhood Cancer

Hyundai Motor America has announced grants totaling $6.8 million to sixty-eight hospitals and nonprofits across the country involved in childhood cancer research.

In conjunction with National Childhood Cancer Awareness month, grants of $100,000 each will be awarded through the Hyundai Hope on Wheels program to fund research projects and support meaningful efforts by doctors, nurses, social workers, child life specialists, and other professionals who work with children with cancer. Throughout September, representatives of the program will present grants to recipients and hear from children, families, and medical professionals. By the end of the year, the program will have awarded more than $23 million to help fight pediatric cancer.

"While we've made progress over the last few decades and now have an 85 percent cure rate, cancer still takes more lives than any other childhood disease," said Hyundai Motor America president and CEO John Krafcik. "This September, in support of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Hyundai will shine a nationwide spotlight on this cause....We love taking on big challenges at Hyundai, and we can think of no more worthy challenge than finding a cure for all forms of pediatric cancer."
