Robina Foundation Awards $950,000 to the Yale Repertory Theatre
Yale Repertory Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut, has announced a two-year, $950,000 grant from the Minnesota-based Robina Foundation to the Yale Center for New Theatre.
The most recent grant from the foundation that established the Yale Center for New Theatre with a grant in 2008 will be used to support the center's productions of Yale-commissioned works at theaters other than Yale Rep. The center supports the creation of new plays and musicals through residencies, readings, workshops, and full productions, and facilitates playwrights' and composers' residencies as lecturers at the School of Drama.
"The Robina Foundation is pleased to continue its support of the work of the Yale Center for New Theatre, which has demonstrated thoughtful, careful, and creative implementation of its initiatives," said Robina Foundation executive director Penny A. Hunt. "Supporting the creation of new work for the theatre in a university environment offers a unique and especially creative venue for developing plays and for nurturing artists' talents and imagination."
