Erb Family Foundation Announces $1.2 Million in Grants
The Erb Family Foundation in Birmingham, Michigan, has awarded nineteen grants totaling $1.23 million for environmental and arts/cultural initiatives in the metropolitan Detroit region, Crain's Detroit Business reports.
Grants include $160,000 to Greening of Detroit for a pilot project to plant urban forests as a way to mitigate storm water runoff; $120,000 to the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit to expand its fund development program; $100,000 to InsideOut Literary Arts Project to work with Detroit Public Television, the Arts League of Michigan, the Matrix Theatre Company, Wayne State University Press, and other local groups to present events throughout the year that celebrate the achievements of women poets; and $75,000 to the Heidelberg Project to develop a vibrant urban environment around Heidelberg Street.
In addition, the foundation awarded grants totaling $205,000 to the Science & Environmental Health Network, the WARM Training Center, the Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation, and the East Michigan Environmental Action Council for activities that promote environmental health and justice.
