Independent Sector Names 2010 American Express NGen Fellows

Independent Sector has announced twelve under-40 leaders at IS member organizations as recipients of the 2010 American Express NGen Fellowships.

Part of IS's NGen: Moving Nonprofit Leaders From Next to Now initiative, which works to build the next generation of nonprofit and philanthropic leaders, the fellows program enables under-40 nonprofit professionals to magnify their impact and accelerate their careers. Through the program, NGen Fellows are provided with online and in-person opportunities to collaborate with other emerging professionals, interact with seasoned leaders, and contribute to addressing critical challenges facing the nonprofit and philanthropic community. Over the course of the program, fellows also embark on a keystone project with the potential to positively impact the sector.

This year's NGen Fellows are MacArthur Antigua, director of national recruitment and expansion for Public Allies; Janella Franklin, vice president of development for Communities in Schools; Ruben Gonzales, deputy vice president of resource development for the National Council of La Raza; Tine Hansen-Turton, vice president for health care access and policy for the Public Health Management Corporation; Andrew Ho, member services manager for the Council on Foundations; Tanya Clay House, director of public policy for Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law; Lynsey Wood Jeffries, executive director of DC Metro Higher Achievement; Casey Lozar, director of corporate and tribal development for the American Indian College Fund; Jethro Miller, vice president of the national campaign for the American Red Cross; Ruth Rechis, director of evaluation and research for the Lance Armstrong Foundation; Jennifer Ford Reedy, vice president of strategy and knowledge management for the Minnesota Community Foundation and the Saint Paul Foundation; and David Smith, executive director of the National Conference on Citizenship.

"These outstanding professionals are contributing so much to make sure that we achieve the greatest possible impact," said Independent Sector president and CEO Diana Aviv. "Individually, each has already established a record of great achievement, and their collaboration throughout the American Express NGen Fellows program will accelerate their capacity to advance the common good for years to come."
