People in the News (5/16/10): Appointments and Promotions

The Colorado Trust has announced the planned retirement of IRENE M. IBARRA, its president and CEO. Ibarra, who assumed leadership of the trust in 2007, previously served as executive vice president of the California Endowment, director of LA Health Action, and CEO of the Alameda Alliance for Health. She also practiced corporate and business law at Hillis, Clark, Martin and Peterson in Seattle. She currently chairs the Colorado Association of Funders and serves on the boards of the Colorado Health Institute, the Latino Community Foundation of Colorado, and Mile High United Way.

The Bush Foundation in Saint Paul, Minnesota, has announced the election of PAMELA MORET and ANN MULHOLLAND to its board. Moret is executive vice president for strategic development at Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and previously had a twenty-year career with American Express Financial Advisors. Mulholland, deputy mayor of the City of Saint Paul, previously led marketing efforts for the Nature Conservancy and was a political organizer for the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME).

New York City-based Public Agenda has announced the planned retirement of RUTH WOODEN, its president, on December 21 of this year. Wooden, president of the organization since 2003, currently serves as board chair of Civic Ventures as well as a director of Independent sector, Demos, and the Family Violence Prevention Fund. She began her professional career in marketing at Ralston Purina Company and as an advertising manager at the NW Ayer agency, later serving as president of the Advertising Council and as a member of the social marketing public relations practice at Porter Novelli International. She plans to remain closely involved with Public Agenda through several new initiatives that build on her legacy.

In other news, PND notes the passing of CECIL WOLFSON, former chair of the Wolfson Family Foundation, which helped make possible Wolfson Children's Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.
