Fordham Law Receives $6.5 Million in Gifts
Fordham University School of Law has announced gifts totaling $6.5 million from alumni Paul R. Brenner and Paul P. Tanico.
The gifts bring to $98 million the total raised through the school's $100 million fundraising campaign, one of the largest in the history of American legal education. The campaign will support five key priorities: construction of a new law school building; scholarships; the creation of faculty chairs, centers and institutes; and an annual fund.
Brenner, a lawyer and educator who passed away last August, left the school a $5.5 million bequest to support the Paul R. Brenner Endowed Scholarship program. Previously, Brenner helped set up Fordham Law's National Scholars Program, the Fordham-Stein Prize, and the Fordham Competition Law Institute. The $1 million gift from Tanico, the founder and managing principal of CastleRock Asset Management and a key member of the Dean's Planning Council at Fordham Law, will fund a classroom in the new building.
"Dean Treanor and his colleagues have accomplished so much in the past several years, and the new building will give Fordham the facilities that a world class law school deserves," said Tanico. "I deeply appreciate what Fordham gave to me, and it is a pleasure to be able to give back."
