AstraZeneca HealthCare Foundation Launches $25 Million Cardiovascular Health Program

AstraZeneca HealthCare Foundation Launches $25 Million Cardiovascular Health Program

Pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca has announced a $25 million contribution to the AstraZeneca HealthCare Foundation to launch a new program designed to improve cardiovascular health in the United States.

The Connections for Cardiovascular Health program will work to address cardiovascular disease — the leading cause of death in the U.S. — by awarding grants of at least $150,000 to nonprofits working to address patients' cardiovascular health issues and unmet needs, respond to conditions that contribute to cardiovascular disease, and improve the quality of patients' and caregivers' lives. Applications for the program are due on July 31, with grantees to be announced in November.

"There remains a great need to support innovative programs to improve cardiovascular health," said AstraZeneca HealthCare Foundation chair James W. Blasetto. "At AstraZeneca, we believe that to make a difference and help patients live healthier lives, we need to form connections with those who are working to address cardiovascular healthcare needs in the community and improve quality of life for patients and caregivers."
