Arizona State University Receives $1 Million From Kresge Foundation
Arizona State University has announced a three-year, $1 million grant from the Kresge Foundation to launch an initiative aimed at increasing the number of transfer students from in-state community colleges.
The initiative, Creating Seamless Transfer Pathways Among Arizona Postsecondary Education Institutions, will work to make the transfer process more understandable and personalized for community college students through the use of improved communication tools and technologies. The new tools will make it easier for students to upload their community college coursework, track their progress with respect to various ASU degree programs, and expand access to ASU's signature eAdvisor tool.
"One of our primary goals is to assist students in attaining an associate degree and then transferring successfully to obtaining a bachelor's degree," said ASU provost and executive vice president Elizabeth Capaldi. "Arizona faces the challenge of building the educated workforce we need to strengthen the economy, and through this grant we are able to provide community colleges [with] important tools that have helped students succeed at ASU."
