Rasmuson Foundation Announces $1.1 Million in Third-Quarter Grants
The Anchorage-based Rasmuson Foundation has announced forty-five grants totaling nearly $1.1 million awarded through its arts and culture initiatives and recently revamped Tier 1 and Tier 2 programs.
Several recipients of Tier 1 and Tier 2 grants, which are designed to support capital and strategic projects, respectively, are engaged in projects working to document and/or preserve Alaska history and culture. They include the University of Alaska Anchorage Institute of Social and Economic Research, the Alaska Native Sisterhood Association, the Valdez Museum and Historical Society, the Hope and Sunrise Historical Society, and the University of Alaska Southeast.
Seven arts and culture organizations, including the Anchorage Concert Association and the Samuel K. Fox Museum Association, received capacity-building grants from the foundation's Organizational Advancement Fund. And the foundation provided support through its Harper Touring Arts Fund for appearances by performance artist Emily Johnson in Anchorage and by Cajun and Afrobeat musicians in the communities of Ketchikan and Haines.
In addition, the foundation awarded $500,000 to the United Way of Anchorage to continue its support for safety-net organizations serving Alaskans most in need of food and shelter.
