Philadelphia-Area Arts Initiative Established to Stimulate Cultural Engagement
The Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance and the Philadelphia Foundation have announced the launch of a $750,000 initiative designed to stimulate innovative marketing and programming practices among arts and cultural groups in the area.
Funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts and the Philadelphia and Wallace foundations, the Engage 2020 Innovation Grants Program will provide one-year grants of up to $75,000 for the design and implementation of programs that respond directly to the findings of the Alliance's recently released report Research Into Action: Pathways to New Opportunities. Among other things, the report presents ten findings related to how the region's diverse population engages with the arts.
To be eligible for a grant, organizations must attend a free orientation workshop offered by the Alliance and the Philadelphia Foundation.
"Despite the many financial challenges facing cultural organizations, our research reveals excellent opportunities for expanded arts participation," said Peggy Amsterdam, president of the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance. "These grants deliver important venture capital for cultural groups looking to develop cutting-edge experiences for twenty-first century arts consumers."
