California HealthCare Foundation Announces Recipients of 2009 Leadership Fellowships

The California HealthCare Foundation has announced the selection of thirty health professionals as fellows in its Health Care Leadership Program, which is designed to provide health professionals with the skills needed to advance healthcare policy and delivery in their states.

Over the next two years, the fellows will convene in seminars led by nationally recognized healthcare and leadership-development experts as well as faculty associated with UCLA's Anderson School of Management. The program addresses healthcare issues from the business, leadership, and public policy perspectives, teaching participants how to build and lead teams, manage complexity and change, understand and use financial management tools, and respond to the changing healthcare environment. Sponsored by CHCF and now in its ninth year, the program is administered by the Center for the Health Professions at the University of California, San Francisco.

"These leaders bring a broad range of experience as medical directors, administrators, and supervisors, as well as diverse fields of expertise, including medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, clinical informatics, public health, and business," said foundation president and CEO Mark D. Smith. "In the nine years that we've supported this effort, we've been impressed with participants' sustained commitment to improve the quality and efficiency of health care in California."
