Louisiana Disaster Recovery Foundation Announces Initiative to Promote Culture of Preparedness, Giving
The Baton Rouge-based Louisiana Disaster Recovery Foundation has announced a new initiative designed to cultivate a culture of preparedness in the state, which has been ravaged by four hurricanes in the past three years.
In a message on the LDRF Web site, president and CEO Flozell Daniels, Jr. said the foundation recognizes that the state and its residents must build on the successes and capitalize on the lessons learned since Hurricane Katrina. The twofold purpose of the Louisiana, My Heart, My Home: Prepared to Live Together, Prepared to Give Together initiative is to educate Louisiana residents about preparedness while cultivating a culture of giving and increasing the state's resilience in general.
"Having amassed an arsenal of lessons learned in the wake of hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and, more recently, Gustav, and Ike, LDRF remains committed to our promise to be there for Louisiana residents in the wake of disaster," said Daniels. "LDRF is equally committed to continuing to effect public policy that facilitates efficient, fair, and transparent use of recovery resources and seeking new public-private partnerships that bolster the critical work of the nonprofit sector."
Message From the Desk of the CEO.
